Item #A1

From my personal Silver Collection!
Incredible sprays of Proustite with Acanthite and Native Silver on Calcite crystals!
This classic old museum piece dates back to the 1850's and is quite simply the finest
specimen of German Proustite on matrix that I've ever seen or owned! The Proustite
has been well protected and still has considerable redness in the crystals. The addition
of Acanthite and Native Silver wires makes the piece extraordinary. Even the matrix
is composed of sharp, well formed and stacked Calcite crystals! From the Himmelfurst
Mine, Freiberg District, Erzgeberg, Saxony, Germany. Measures 8.5 cm by 7 cm in size.
Comes with a custom made, labeled stand.

Tucson2009-145millenniumpocketrhodo.jpg (112647 bytes)
Item #A2

Gorgeous deep cherry-red Rhodochrosite rhombs with Quartz on Tetrahedrite matrix!
Super gemmy and bright, these rhombs are big and glassy with the largest measuring 3 cm length-wise
and over 2 cm across the face! This rhomb has some slight natural contact (pocket contact) along the
left corner but this is not damage. There's also a small bit of corner flaking, also naturally occurring,
on the left rhomb but the size and color of the crystals easily overwhelms both areas of imperfection.

From the Millennium Pocket of the Fluorite raise, Sweet Home Mine in Alma, Colorado.
Measures 8 cm by 6 cm in total size.

Stunning specimen of gemmy Sulfur crystals set atop Aragonite!
I can't remember ever seeing a finer Sulfur miniature. This specimen is superb with perfectly
formed crystals of glowing yellow color and gemminess. I paid VERY strong money for this
specimen when I originally purchased it because Sulfurs of this quality are few and far between.

color. Several large and dozens of smaller Pyrite octahedrons balance off this large cabinet piece.

Tucson2008-217zinnvanadinite.jpg (103073 bytes)
Item #A8

Nearly pristine specimen of Vanadinite crystals atop matrix!
I see so many of these specimens with dull surfaces and missing or broken crystals,
that I have to do a double take when I see one that's as good as this one is. The
aesthetic display speaks for itself but the flashy, lustrous surfaces of each reddish-
orange crystal is gorgeous. Also, there's literally no damage anywhere on the entire
specimen. I've looked this piece over many times and can't find a broken crystal.

Tucson2009-340creedite2.jpg (97336 bytes)
Item #A10

Glassy and quite flashy cluster of purple Creedite crystals!
One of the better Creedite clusters I've seen in a while! The crystals number in the hundreds
and nearly all are gemmy and terminated. A small amount of orange has worked its way into what
is mainly a purple cluster but I really like the color accenting. The bottom of the cluster appears
cast-like with a concave opening. This also gives a rounded appearance to the Creedite surface.

Tucson2009-155johnspocketrhodo.jpg (133660 bytes)
Item #A13

Super aesthetic specimen of John's Pocket Rhodochrosite!
A beautiful specimen featuring three large cherry-red rhombs with two smaller rhombs set atop
white Quartz matrix, surrounding four large Quartz points in the middle. For the record, these are
the largest Quartz points I've ever seen from the Sweet Home. They look more like Arkansas
Quartz than the usual needle Quartz you see from this mine. This incredible plate is from the
John's Pocket and like most specimens from that find, the Rhodochrosite crystals have an
incredible deep cherry color under a delicate matt surface. The thing that's cool about that
however is that it's an attractive matt finish and not an ugly one. The rich color of the rhombs
comes through loud and clear without any paleness or frosting! I think the photograph clearly
demonstrates that. The largest rhomb to the lower left measures nearly 3 cm tip to tip and the
rhomb above it measures 2.7 cm in size. The largest Quartz crystal measures 5 cm in length!
It has a rehealed termination while the other Quartz points have full, complete terminations.

From the John's Pocket, Watercourse Raise, Sweet Home Mine, Alma, Colorado.
Measures 9 cm by 9 cm in total size.

undamaged from largest to smallest with very glassy faces and the Albite is white and sharp.
The contrast between the two minerals is incredible! I sold this specimen to a major collector
some years ago and now have it back. I'm very happy to be able to offer it a second time.

Cabinet sized specimen of lustrous blue Gibbsite with Doyleite!
Gibbsite is a rare aluminum hydroxide species which almost never appears for sale at the shows.
Doyleite is an equally as rare polymorph of Gibbsite. Both species are present on this impressive plate.
This specimen was part of a small find in China some years ago (2006). The surfaces are botryoidal with
a lustrous, greasy sheen. This is the largest plate I've seen to date and it's also in excellent shape!

Tucson2009-130meteoriteglass.jpg (40818 bytes)
Tucson2009-125kebiracrater.jpg (39283 bytes)

Item #A18

Prehistoric Meteoritic Impact Glass!
The story behind this glass is amazing. When some of the pharaoh tombs were discovered in Egypt,
archeologists discovered small figurines carved from a yellowish-green glass. The Egyptians had
apparently found this glass scattered about in the desert to their west and used the translucent glass
fragments for their sculptures and small carvings. It was a highly prized "gemstone" and important
enough to be included in the tombs of their rulers. Jump forward to the 20th century when in 1932,
scientists exploring the Sahara Desert stumbled across a find of green glass while searching for
undiscovered ruins. They had accidently rediscovered the source of the Egyptian green glass.
The glass was tested and found to be impact glass from a prehistoric asteroid impact in the desert.
The impact was so violent that the desert sandstone was instantly heated and melted into glass
which was then tossed far and wide from the crater. No crater was evident however until satellite
images showed a huge impact zone which had been covered by centuries of sand drift and water
erosion by ancient rivers. See story. This impact glass is unique in that it is green and lustrous
unlike tektites which are generally dark. It has been scientifically dated by fission-track methods
to 28.5 million years old and probably occurred at some 2800 degrees melting temperature!

Age estimated at 28.5 million years old.
Most likely from the recently discovered Kebira Crator.
