LARGE CABINET!! Stunning large plate of
Rhodochrosite rhombs with Quartz, Pyrite, and Tetrahedrite!
I don't think I need to tell anyone how rare plates of this size are today. Just attend a
mineral show and
the specimens you see can be counted on one hand. This plate is covered with gemmy red
Rhodo crystals
and some associated minerals for contrast. The largest crystals are around 2 cm but most
average 1.5 cm
in size. The plate is in excellent condition with only a few bumps here and there which I
will mention for
accuracy. There are the normal incomplete crystals around the trim line of course and at
about 2 o'clock
a rhomb has a small contact where it was touching matrix. None of these detract in the
least from the
dazzle of this gorgeous red plate and aren't even noticeable without close inspection.
This is the first large
plate I've offered in a couple of years and they go very fast. If you need one for your
collection, here it is!
From the Millennium Pocket, Fluorite Raise, Sweet
Home Mine, Alma, Colorado.
Measures 12 cm by 14 cm in total size.
Price $45,000

Large plate of Azurite nodules with some
associated Malachite!
I love these large specimens from New Mexico. They appear almost weather-worn and occur
on a matrix of compressed sandstone. This is by far one of the largest plates I've seen
recently.
From the Lost Lake Claim, Nacimiento Mine, Cuba, New Mexico.
Measures 9.4 cm by 16 cm in size.
Ex. Harold Urish Collection
Price $1750

Second time around! Classic specimen of
Native Wire Silver on Acanthite matrix!
I sold this specimen about six years ago and had the chance to reacquire it in Denver.
As I mentioned the first time I sold it, I love the shape of the specimen because it
resembles an old tree so much. I'm a collector of all Silvers but the tree-like specimens
are always special and very popular. This specimen also has a beautiful antique patina.
From Freiberg, Freiberg District, Erzgebirge, Saxony,
Germany.
Measures 6.8 cm by 4.2 cm in size.
Ex. Kevin Ward, M. Weill Collections
Price $9500

HISTORIC! Large cabinet plate of Quartz var. Amethyst
on Chalcedony!
This plate pre-dates Yellowstone Park and is most likely circa 1860's to early
1870's! It was collected when collecting in Yellowstone was still legal and has
resided in the Philadelphia Academy Collection for over a century. Any specimen
from the world's most famous park must be considered an American Heirloom.
From Amethyst Mountain, Eastern Fork of the
Yellowstone River, NW Wyoming.
Measures 18 cm by 24 cm by 8.4 cm in size.
Ex. Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences Collection
Price $6500

Excellent specimen featuring three
distinct Cuprite crystals coated by Malachite!
Multi-crystal specimens of this material are scarce, especially when the crystals are so
sharp
and well formed. The backside of the specimen is a mix of matrix, Cuprite, and Malachite.
From the Emke Mine in Onganja, Namibia.
Measures 7 cm by 4 cm in size.

WOW! Basaltic nodule of blue Chalcedony,
Calcite, and Mordenite sprays!
I'm showing three photos of this specimen to show just how beautiful and bizarre
it really is! The top photos show the specimen from the frontal display side and
the bottom photo shows the bottom of the nodule which has its own mineral display.
Obviously, the nodule was once hollow and gradually filled with various crystals
growth. The golden Calcite at top is actually larger on the bottom side opening!
This is one of those India specimens that is so unique that I just had to buy it.
From Chakan Poona, Maharashtra, India.
Measures 17.8 cm by 10.4 cm by 10 cm in size.
Price $6500

RARE! Gemmy crystals of Pink Grossular
Garnet on sparkling matrix!
Every now and then I find a small hoard of these scarce specimens and they
always go fast. This is one of the finer specimens I've seen in a long time in
terms of both crystals quality and size of specimen. Definately a choice piece!
From the Jeffrey Quarry, Asbestos, Quebec, Canada.
Measures 7.3 cm by 4.4 cm in size.
Price $3500

At first glace, this would be a great
looking plate of Sweet Home Rhodochrosite!
It's actually a Chinese Rhodochrosite specimen however and the finds from there
continue to amaze as they get better and better. I wouldn't call them Sweet Home
quality but they are getting very close. These 1 cm rhombs are translucent with
the best color to yet appear from China. Also, the matrix is now a more sturdy
Quartz needle on Chalcedony in contrast to the slightly fragile Dolomitic matrix
of years past. This was one of the finest plates available at this year's show!
From Wuzhou, Guangxi Province of China.
Measures 6 cm by 10.4 cm in size.
Price $3500

Stunning specimen featuring a gemmy yellow
Spodumene crystal on matrix with Smoky Quartz!
The color contrast is the first thing you notice with this combo but upon closer
inspection you
will find that all crystals are perfectly terminated. Also, the Spodumene is glassy-gemmy
on
the front presentation face. It rises 6.5 cm above the Microcline matrix and becomes even
more
yellow when exposed to light. Specimens of this quality from Afghanistan are becoming
scarce!
From Nilaw-Kolum Pegmatite Field, Laghman Province of
Afghanistan.
Measures 11.5 cm by 8 cm by 9 cm in size.
Price $5450

Finely crystallized specimen of Native
Silver with a reddish Sphalerite and Calcite at top!
What a cute specimen! The rubyjack Sphalerite crystal can be easily seen on the right
side of the specimen and the Calcite at top sits atop a small Silver wire! Actually, the
entire specimen is composed of dendritic Silver "feathers" and crystals. Very
sweet!
From Chanarcillo, Copiapo Province, Atacama Region of Chile.
Measures 4 cm by 4.6 cm in size.
