EXCEPTIONAL! Unique specimen of Native
Silver wires in Calcitic matrix from Kongsberg!
This specimen fascinates me! I've seen many fine Silvers from
Kongsberg in my days but this is the
finest of this variety I've come across from there and I can attest that they are
definately not common.
This specimen is original and old, with a handwritten label on the backside which dates to
the mid 1800's
The surfaces are incredibly bright and lustrous with a wire arrangement that is very
pleasing to the eye.
The white Calcite was picked away here and there to expose the wires and the entire piece
takes on
the appearance of a snow covered fir tree. A great companion piece for the more
traditional thick wires!
From the Kongsberg Silver Mines, Kongsberg, Buskerud, Norway.
Measures 5.8 cm by 8 cm by 2.7 cm in total size.
Price $9500

An exceptional cabinet sized plate of
Amazonite crystals with dark Smoky Quartz!
The is one sweet specimen and the color is rich and stunning! The contrast between the
dark Smoky points and Amazonite is what draws collectors to these combos and I can
happily say that this plate has no broken terminations or distracting contacts. There is a
repair which is completely normal for these large plates but it's on the backside matrix
and not visible from the front. Overall, I can't find anything negative to say about this
specimen. What I can say however is that it originally sold for over $25k and I'm able to
offer it for much, much less!! If you're looking for a top quality Smoky-Amazonite, this
is it!
From the Smoky Hawk Claim, Teller County, Colorado.
Measures 12.2 cm by 9.8 cm by 5.6 cm in total size.
Comes with a custom made, labeled stand

Dazzling and quite unique specimen of
gemmy Spessartine Garnet with dark botryoidal Goethite!
I don't think Goethite is listed as a mineral in Tongbei but here it is, all grape-like
and velvety!
Hematite is listed at the mine so that's close enough. I know for certain that I've not
seen another
combination of Spessartine and Goethite from Tongbei so this specimen must be rare if not
unique.
The contrasting colors and textures are eye catching and the gemmy Garnets flash light and
sparkle.
From Tongbei, Yunxiao Co., Zhangzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province, China.
Measures 12.5 cm by 10.2 cm in size.

Rare and aesthetic specimen of Native
Silver wires emerging from Calcite matrix!
This is a prized locality for Silver collectors and one that is now under water and
inaccessible.
The mine itself was actually located on an islet in Lake Superior and as one would expect,
eventually the water came in and flooded the shaft. Authetic Silvers from the Silver Islet
Mine date back to as early as 1868 when ore was first discovered by Thomas MacFarlane
to as late as 1884 when the mine was finally closed after yielding over $3 million in
Silver. The
above specimen displays a beautiful antique patina, which is indicative of its age, over
strong luster.
From the Silver Islet Mine, Silver Islet, Sibley Township, Thunder Bay District, Ontario,
Canada.
Measures 3.8 cm by 1.7 cm by 2.2 cm in total size.

Fine blades of iridescent Covellite with
Quartz points perched high atop Quartz matrix!
Glittering sprinkles of Pyrite add accenting to this scarce
specimen out of Butte, Montana.
The Covellite blades are complete for the most part but there is some matrix contact
incompleteness
near the left side. This is very common for Covellite blades which formed in tight
pockets. The color
of the lustrous blades is a gorgeous iridescent purplish-blue and this color is consistant
throughout.
Most of the Quartz points are terminated except for the crystal in the very back which
also touched matrix.
From the Leonard Mine, Butte, Silver Bow County, Montana.
Measures 5.8 cm by 6.2 cm by 4.8 cm in total size.

Dazzling specimen of Gem Boulder Opal in
brown ironstone matrix!
I see reds, greens, yellows, oranges, and blues in this fine Opal seam. I might also point
out that
Boulder Opal seams are rarely this thick and this could be cut into some high quality
stones!

Dazzling specimen of Gem Boulder Opal in
brown ironstone matrix!
I see reds, greens, yellows, oranges, and blues in this fine Opal seam which runs through
both
the whitish matrix and the layered ironstone. The color flashes are smaller and more
scattered
giving the specimen a "twinkling star" appearance similar to that of Andamooka
Opals.

Fine twinned crystals of Hematite included
Calite on dogtooth Calcite crystals!
The twinned crystals measure 3.5 cm across from tip to tip and are both very tranparent
with an internal brownish-orange coloration due to Hematite influence. Oddly enough, the
smaller
Calcites around the base are more opaque and this is due to their higher concentration of
Hematite.
From the Leiping Mine, Leiping, Guiyang Co., Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China.
Measures 5 cm by 5.7 cm by 5.1 cm in total size.

Wonderfully rich plate of Smoky Quartz on
Amazonite with Goethite ps. Siderite crystals!
First of all, the color of the Amazonite is excellent! That's one of the most important
factors
for these combo specimens. Secondly, the Smoky points are all terminated and complete
with only a single nearly invisible repair to the large 6+ cm Smoky in the center. The
brownish crystals to the upper right are Goethite pseudomorphing Siderite crystals.
From Ken's Pocket, Two Point Claim, Teller County, Colorado.
It measures 10.5 cm by 11.5 cm in size.

Fine locality piece featuring
cream-colored Dolomite crystals on Quartz drusy matrix!
This specimen is from the Camp Bird Mine and is the first Dolomite
I've seen from there in quite
some time. I don't know how scarce they are but I do know that specimens from the Camp
Bird
are not common at the shows. This one presents a fine gathering of small Dolomite clusters
draped over a sparkling Quartz matrix. The brown colored crystals may be small Siderites.
From the Camp Bird Mine, Ouray, Colorado.
Measures 6.2 cm by 7.6 cm in size.

Glossy crystals of amber-colored Calcite
with yellow Calcite on white Calcite covered matrix!
Three colors of Calcite here, with the largest amber-colored crystals appearing almost wet
they
are so gemmy and lustrous! Fine yellow Calcite crystals appear to the left and one sits
atop the
amber Calcite cluster. These crystals are slightly more opaque but are also lustrous and
possibly
semi-etched which explains their unique structure. Finally, tiny white Calcites cover the
matrix
in the background, adding a noticeable sparkle to the otherwise, very reflective specimen.
From Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Measures 3.9 cm by 5.6 cm by 3.1 cm in total size.

Bizarre specimen featuring an Amethyst
phantomed Quartz capped by another phantomed Quartz!
I've never a Quartz like this one where a cluster of crystals
is literally growing atop the termination
of another larger Quartz crystal. The two largest crystals display a very distinct
Amethyst phantom
and there are some Pyrite cubes on the backside of the specimen. In excellent shape and
unique!
Interesting note - There may also be a slight inclusion of green Chlorite in the largest
point.
