New Specimens from Tucson Show 2008!

Tucson2008-446namibiaaquasmoky.jpg (82853 bytes)

MIN#TUCSON2008-261 NEW!

INCREDIBLE display specimen! Here you have a rehealed Smoky Quartz shard set across
the backside of a gorgeous greenish-blue Aquamarine crystal with a dramatic Smoky point
spray perched atop the Beryl! The Aquamarine is fat, measuring over 6 cm in width, with a
glassy termination and rehealed bottom. Both the Smoky and Aqua are accented by lustrous
crystals of Schorl Tourmaline. As for the killer Smoky Quartz spray, four of the terminations
are flawless and one termination to the far left (the smallest point) is incomplete since it
terminated into matrix. This is truely Nature's artwork at its best and most interesting.
From the Erongo Mountains, Namibia, SW Africa.
Measures 9.3 cm by 11 cm by 7.8 cm in size.

Ex. Charlie Key Collection
From the Kevin Ward Personal Collection
Price $7500

MIN#TUCSON2008-262 SOLD!

EXCEPTIONAL! Aesthetic specimen of Native Copper with a huge crystal at top!
This specimen goes perfectly with the Smoky-Aqua above because I consider both to
be natural works of art. This Copper specimen looks like a sculpture! It starts with an
elongated crystal at the base and climbs upwards with a repeating pattern of angles
and terraces until it reaches the top, where a 5 cm crystal sits. The crystal is not
completely formed due to matrix limitation on the bottom side, but the faces that
are there are sharp and distinct. There's also a beautiful zone of iridescence
covering the crystal face on the far right side. The matrix at the base accents the
Copper and is so perfectly placed that the specimen sits upright without a stand.
From the Central Mine, Keweenaw County, Michigan.
Measures 13 cm by 12 cm by 5.2 cm in size.

From the Kevin Ward Personal Collection
Price $3850

Stunning, cabinet sized plate of golden-brown Fluorite cubes with Sphalerite on orange Siderite!

I the piece professionally trimmed to create a more balanced plate. The results were excellent!

MIN#TUCSON2008-267 SOLD!

The "Rabbit Ears" Aquamarine!
Unique specimen of Beryl var. Aquamarine crystals with a red Spessartine Garnet!
I loved the mineral association when I first saw this specimen but it was the cool
looking Aquamarine crystals in the middle that sealed the deal. To me they look
like rabbit ears but I guess they could also be fingers displayed the victory sign. Both
Aquas are gemmy blue with perfect terminations. The Spessartine "eye" is really sweet.
From the Shigar Valley, Skardu District, Northern Areas of Pakistan.

MIN#TUCSON2008-274 NEW!

A triple scoop of Barite with Calcite and Barian Celestite sprays on lustrous Sphalerite!
I think this is one of the better balanced Barite specimens I've seen from the Elmwood
mine. The largest Barite appears in the top center and is framed by almost identically
sized Barite clusters on both sides. White sprays of Barian Celestite are located beneath
the Barite clusters and a scattering of golden Calcite crystals adds additional contrast to
the shiny Sphalerite xl matrix. All in all, a very attractive cabinet specimen from Tennessee.
From the Elmwood Mine, Smith County, Tennessee.
Measures 10 cm by 12.7 cm by 11 cm in size.
