EXCEPTIONAL!! GEM crystal of intensly colored Beryl var. Morganite from California!
By far, this is the finest Morganite I've seen from San Diego County! The faces are facet-like
and glassy with an intense peachy-pink color that jumps out from the crystal! I've seen many
California Morganites but this one is a special piece - both in terms of color and clarity. The
crystal form is excellent as well. This 5 cm gem crystal sits atop a matrix of Cleavelandite,
Tourmaline, and purple Lepidolite. The crystal is so gemmy that
one can easily see through
to the matrix underneath. The front crystal face also exhibits an amazing facet-like surface
that is incredibly rare and something I've only seen on a few very unique Beryl specimens.
The printed page from Barlow's book illustrates this feature from a different photographic
angle. The color in the book photo isn't very good but the growth lines are quite visible.
From the Stewart Mine, Pala, San Diego County, California.
Measures 9.8 cm by 7.5 cm in total size.

Ex. F. J. Barlow (Page 137 in his book from 1998), Lawrence Conklin Mineral Collections
Currently in the Kevin Ward Mineral Collection
Price $22,500

Gold Rush specimen of Native Gold!
Classic specimen of completely crystalline Native Gold from the 1850's -1870's Gold Rush
period of California's history! This specimen was mined after the earliest placer period of Gold
discovery because it is crystalline and is probably from the underground mining that followed shortly
after the initial panning days of the Gold Rush
. There is no water wear or friction - only hundreds of
fine crystals! There's also a 1.2 cm spinel-law crystal on the far left side (at 10:00 - 11:00 o'clock).
Mixed in among the numerous crystals of Native Gold are Quartz fragments and Sphalerite.
From the Mother Lode period (1850's to 1870's) of Calaveras County, California.
Measures 5.2 cm by 3.3 cm by 3.2 cm in size. Weighs 71.8 grams.

Ex. Schwethelm (circa 1940-1950's), Bruce Mineral Collections
Currently in the Kevin Ward Mineral Collection

Very iridescent blades of Covellite in cluster on matrix!
This is Summitville Covellite and look at the color on those blades! Wow!
Vibrant and very lustrous blades of reddish-purple roll the light from the side
to side when the specimen is held and tilted. Many of the blades are free standing
and actually point towards the viewer while the blades at top lay flat against the matrix.

From Summitville, Rio Grande County, Colorado.
Measures 7.5 cm by 5 cm in size.

Lustrous bi-color crystal of Spodumene-Kunzite!
Perfectly terminated crystal displaying quite well the gradual color shift from light
yellowish Spodumene to vibrant rosey-purple Kunzite. Turning the specimen on its
side shows that the crystal changes color at just about the midpoint of its length!
This truely is a half and half specimen - one which is very lustrous and gemmy!

From the Pech (Peech) Pass, Kunar Province of Afghanistan
Measures 6.8 cm by 2.2 cm by 2.3 cm in size.

Superb specimen of apple-green Pyromorphite crystals in cluster!
This specimen is from the original find which consisted of yellowish-green, apple-green,
and dark green Pyromorphite crystals in cluster. My favorite was always the apple-
green variety and this specimen falls into that range, if not just a touch darker.

This specimen is nearly pristine with full terminations and only one tiny missing crystal.
This spot on the far right could easily be trimmed away

INCREDIBLE TOPAZ CRYSTAL!
Big and impressive are the two words that come to mind while viewing this crystal!
The color is a glowing golden-brown and is as deep and gemmy as you will ever see
in a Topaz crystal. The faces are extremely glassy and sharp with modifications on
every corner. The backside of the crystal has some attached Albite matrix while the
bottom side is incomplete where it was removed from the host matrix. The main focus
of this Topaz crystal is the size and color which overshadows everything else. I can't stress
enough just how intense and vibrant the color is. Hold it in your hand and you'll be amazed.

From Dassu, Shigar Valley, Skardu District, Baltistan, Northern Areas of Pakistan.
Measures 5.1 cm by 5.3 cm by 4 cm in size.

MIN#Tucson2009-159 NEW!

Attractive specimen of Iron-Oxide accented Quartz crystals with Hematite!
I've seen many of these Iron-Oxide colored red Quartz clusters with Hematite blades
but I don't think I've ever seen one as dramatic as this one. Most of the time they appear
as common clusters but this one looks more like an abstract work of art. The crystals are
isolated and separate from one another and lay about in various angles. The main upright
crystals are all terminated and the few incomplete crystals are rehealed. Hematite blade
"rosettes" are present at both ends of the specimen and between the upright Quartz points.

From the Jinlong Mine, Lungchuan (Longchuan) County, Guangdong Province, China
